So I have noticed, that there is not a lot of actual RP going on here anymore... is RP deadÉ

It ain't for me! I have a harder time with forum games and online RP, personally, because I'm rather shy until I've gotten fully comfortable, which takes a long time. Its hard for me to "get in character." But I have written, and am still writing, a ton of stories. I have like 3 novels worth of material from my CoH RP stories haha.
I think that the RP thing, like a lot of things, kind of goes through an ebb and flow. If people, particularly the most active ones, have a lot of stuff going on with their day to day lives, they might not be on as much. Or if there is a lot of exciting news or topics on this site, as there has been lately, they might be side tracked reading and commenting on those things.
I hope you don't stop posting! I'm still here, I'm still reading :)

I don't actively RP and haven't in a very long time, but I do remember my first online role-playing and it was on the mIRC's Undernet in a channel called #SilverBladeInn with the handle @Raeph (short for Raeph Shadowstalker and don't judge me, I was like 14 when I came up with it for D&D). I can't tell you how many hours I spent there. I also FFRPed on Sorcery.net in a few channels, mostly in another ubiquitous tavern-like setting under the handle @Loquarius (supposedly a bard but actually a Githyanki in disguise), which had a bit more members than #SBI but mostly seemed to be lurkers so I never got as involved there as back on Unet. After I joined the military, my friends and I started a tabletop White Wolf World of Darkness Vampire: The Masquerade game that we stuck with for awhile, although we did cycle in traditional D&D upon occasion. While I was bitten by the Vampire bug (no pun intended), I found another channel on Unet called #VampireCity set in Boston under the handle @Sph][nx (Clan Gangrel using a golem discipline that was a mix of Auspex and Protean). I met some people there that I ended up FFRPing a lot with, even met a few IRL and still keep in contact with. As my personal life started becoming more involved, I drifted away from the current FFRP involvement, which was #GraylandAcademy, an Xmen-esque type school environment where I played two characters, @Lionel (sound/wavelength manipulation) and @Mercurial (a speedster).
Eventually I discovered City of Heroes/City of Villains in 2005. I actually found 'Grayland Academy' registered as a SG but never managed to find any players on Champion. This was before I knew there was an unofficial RP server, which is probably where they were.
RP was pretty active in The Secret World (which is where I went immediately following the shutdown), and while I never did it, I would definitely notice it in certain areas, particular the tavern in London or on the forums.
Edit: I just started Googling old school Undernet/Sorcery.net FFRP channels, and I forgot about #BlackRoseInn and #StarDragonInn, both of which I had been to but never really got involved or visited that often.
Role-Playing is fun, but when your a Speedster like me running around the country helping people you have little time for RP. I'm currently having a 15 second lunch at a diner in Texas while checking up on this forum. (sigh) Titan City can't get here soon enough. Well gotta run! (running out of diner towards San Francisco)
I accidently ate a bowl of radioactive soup....ok I guess that makes me a Soup-er Hero
I have seen the RP on the forums slow and trickle out. It even affected me as I'm no longer RPing.
Part of me is waiting we went as far as we could I think without seeing the City.

Personal rules of good roleplay
1.) Nothing goes as planned.
2.) If it goes as planned it's not good RP
I totally agree. While I want the devs to make the best game they can and I am by no means rushing them, I am so ready to get into Titan City and begin really exploring the lore and RP possibilities. I have a story that's waiting to take off :)

In that case Notears, your best bet may be to start up an RP for yourself, and invite someone to join you.
An infinite number of tries doesn't mean that any one of those tries will succeed. I could flip an infinite number of pennies an infinite number of times and, barring genuine randomness, they will never come up "Waffles".
He has. I think his question was the product of a tepid response to his attempts to initiate said RP thread.
I certainly hope that RP will be very alive, especially in-game. Been missing Superhero RP since CoH went down and I'm hoping to get back to it with CoT, even on the forums.
I'm hoping someone else will join Crux before the swarm of skeletons engulfs her. ^_^

Skeletons... hmm that would be something Hel would send Rotten to handle. I might return to RP. RL been kind a pain.

Sorry, folks. As Safehouse pointed out, there is an ebb and flow. I've ebbed a bit as I've put more time into the publication writing (a superhero book published in December and a near-future sci-fi novel just this week!) and some Warcraft in-game and forum RP.
RP is not dead. It just requires some participation. Without participation, it slows to a trickle and has to be re-started.
The beer truck thing is amusing, but doesn't feel like something I can jump in on. That's just personal taste, though.
A Wing and a Prayer, A Strong, Strong Wind, All Forests are One, Power Struggles - Venture City metahuman novels in the spirit of City of Heroes and other comic book superhero fiction. (http://bit.ly/sdpbooks)
