Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

I hope there will be elaborately molded skyscrapers for us to perch upon.

To be honest, I have largely ignored lore updates to this point, in no small part because I like to learn the lore gradually as I play. But something about this one caught my attention. I'm the same, on both points. Maybe there's something about this update that conjures detailed pictures of our new city in our minds. It's like having a dream that we're actually playing CoT.

I don't suppose MWM could provide any actual shots of this neighbourhood in whatever state of development it is at the moment?

Also, if we're going to have more of this type of update, it might be nice to have a city map with a sort of zoom or highlight over the area being discussed, as they often do on tv news.

The Comments Section style

The Comments Section style reminded me of the Shadowrun 5th Ed source book strategy of trying too hard to make it look like there is some 3rd party commentary or discussion (when all it does is clutter everything up and make it harder to actually find pertinent information). If this is a whimsical tact that appears once in a while, fine. If it permeates everything everywhere it is going to piss me off.

...but I disagree here. I think it ads a very valuable in-universe viewpoint to the subject at hand. Though I will agree that it could get a little much at times with PAGES of conversations between characters, most of it is pretty brief.

The thing about these comments is that they are not interspersed into the body of the text update - they are at the bottom after all the pertinent information. You therefore choose whether or not to read them. If "they are going to piss (you) off", then simply don't read them. Easy peasy.

Let's not forget that the

Let's not forget that the entire Cape Chasers concept is a wikipedia style information being added by contributors who are everyday people in Titan City. It is a work of fiction meant to represent that, not a documentation by the MWM devs. I believe MWM chose this format more for the color than for anything else. I suspect it's far more interesting and entertaining when it is delivered this way, rather than as a dry encyclopedia entry.

If all you really want is a factual brief of the various neighbohoods, you are going to have to wait for our own CoT wiki to get populated. Because I get the impression that MWM is going to make us wait to actually play the game to get the real details and stories behind things.

That line of thought (if you don't like it, shove your head in the sand) does not solve anything.

Like I said, if it isn't used all over the place it is fine with me. If they use it on everything (and I mean everything) it will deter people from reading up on the game. The comparison to Shadowrun was made on purpose. They have that style of banter commentary on every facet of the rulebook. They also mix in lore/history with character generation, rules, gear and everything. It bulks up a 200 page rulebook into a 450+ page sourcebook. It doesn't help that they have incomplete rule sets and exceptions and cross references. Trying to find anything specific can get frustrating.

Think about it this way. This was one update that briefly covered one small section of town and it mostly alluded to past events in generic detail. Let's say they did an update for every single section of the city, then all of the sections for the other cities/areas. If each one had this style of banter commentary, it would get a little cumbersome. Now consider if they incorporated the banter as a 3rd party observer to all of the lore, all of the powerset descriptions and all of the game mechanics (it would get old real fast).

When you look at one update at a time, the comments are kinda neat. Now what happens if all of the updates have a commentary and they aggregated all of the updates into a single info dump on the game or a wiki? That is when comments would essentially be interspersed into the body. That is what I was talking about (permeating everything everywhere). To go even further, if the comments go meta and they actually start talking about game mechanics and use specific terminology it can make string searches annoying and possibly mislead the user.

I am mostly just pissed off

I am mostly just pissed off about the Shadowrun sourcebooks. This update (a very small sample) reminded me of the 3rd party observer banter that the Shadowrun books employ. I like the commentary because it can add to the culture/universe without just beating you over the head with a sign that says "this is important, maybe you should investigate". I never said that the Comments approach was total trash and should never be written like that, comma, you idiot. I simply expressed my displeasure with over using that tactic, as it has negatively impacted my experience in another game system.

@Planet10, I was going to write a long spiel about how Shadowrun was a poor example because while it was a rulebook and rulebooks are supposed to be clear and concise but this is a color piece and it is supposed to be colorful and entertaining. I was going to say that Cape Chasers are not meant as references. The "Welcome to Titan City" is the reference section and that doesn't have any of the commentary...

but I would be wrong if I said all that.

Because the What We Know about Downtown is not a Cape Chasers. Sure it includes a Cape Chasers bit, but it is primarily a neighborhood reference just like the other neighborhood references in the Welcome to Titan City webpart. It is quite inconsistent with the other content found therein because it is the only neighborhood that has a Cape Chasers portion.

So while I was all set to disagree with you, I actually agree with you that while faux blogs filled with eyewitness accounts, speculation and hearsay should be full of entertaining color, references should be clear and concise. I think MWM would do well to split the Cape Chasing section from the rest of it and make a separate Cape Chaser entry.

I think Cape Chasers is fine as a "post-credits gag" as long as it stays referential without being authoritative. Inside jokes, meta-references, and foreshadowing are fine, but they should all point toward an "official" source eventually. Maybe a better example would be M'aiq The Liar from The Elder Scrolls. You never once get a quest or exposition from him, but he's always good for an invisible dragon joke or a fishy stick reference.

Can't wait to scale the Liberty Building, I wonder how tall it will be? Sears Tower tall? Burj Khalifa tall? Or taller?
To help understand, two of our Moguls actually asked for a replica of the Burj Khalifa...... and Liberty is still taller.

Wow! That's awesome! Can't wait to see it. Thanks for answering my question. It will be cool to look down on Titan City from there.

I accidently ate a bowl of radioactive soup....ok I guess that makes me a Soup-er Hero

The Comments Section style reminded me of the Shadowrun 5th Ed source book strategy

And here I was thinking of the 1st edition Samurai Handbook with all kinds of weapons in it, which ironically had a bunch of deckers commenting on the sales pitches for weapons on each page. One of the more memorable ones was for a light submachinegun ... "Now I can flatten light ammo against body armor faster than ever before!" ... and another was for a man-portable anti-materiel cannon ... "Grade A bang-bang!"

General purpose heavy machine gun? And I always thought the purpose of heavy machine guns was pretty well defined.

You must, must, must place those two buildings somewhere in the bush. Imagine all the Tower of Pisa style photos of heroes holding up one of them in his hand...

I really enjoyed some Worm content on spacebattles.com comprising mock forumite comments about super powered activities in Brockton Bay. It seems these threads grow organically with the original poster trimming anything not fitting the theme or style. I've no doubt this happens far more widely than I am read. I look forward to player content Cape Chasers.

If the "Cape Chasing" title is supposed to indicate that what follows is on the Capechasers website, then InUrDatabase's comment is still referring to the non-Capechasers section.
