Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

Power Customization Idea

So it looks like SW:TOR is going to be offering a new kind of cosmetic "weapon customization" in the form or what they are calling "weapon tuners". Basically for weapons that have one of these tuning slots you can plug in a weapon tuner (kind of like a specialized enhancement from CoH) which will change the graphical appearance of the weapon's effect. From the pics/vids it looks like they can add things like lightning effects to lightsabers and/or change the color of the beams that come out of blasters and such. I'm sure other games have tried this kind of thing before but this is yet another good example of how this concept could work in CoT.

If every power in CoT had one (or more) of these kinds of modification slots then these "tokens" could become a new type of loot and/or something you could buy in the Stars store. Maybe the game could be set up so that basic power customization (things like whether my Energy Bolt is red or blue) would be free but if you wanted a special fancy effect to go along with that color (like extra sparkles or some-such) then you'd need a special augment that would have to be slotted into the power.

Again this is just another idea for customization in CoT and a way to generate a whole new class of optional items that could be traded or bought from the Star Store. Anyone else think this might be an interesting idea for CoT?

I'm always interested in more

I'm always interested in more ways to customize my character's appearence. (I was so happy when CoX started to let you adjust the colors of your powers. And with two colors!)

I could see a setup where the basic animation/color is free to adjust, but additional extras like a spiral of lightning around your energy blast or leaving a trail of sparkles in your flight path would be plugins as you describe. To expand on it slightly, you might even have one that adds the extra effect, but only on a critical attack.

The only minor quibble I'd have with allowing these type of "custom power mods" to have actual combat effects is that if they are sold in the Star Store then you're introducing (no matter how minor) a possible avenue for "pay-to-win" to raise its ugly head. As long as these things are kept to being 100% cosmetic then they would remain 100% optional and thus something that would have no trouble existing in the Star Store.

To be clear I'd opt for a system that would make these kinds of things be rare loot drops as well as Star Store items so you can either wait to get the exact ones you want or buy the exact ones from the store. If there are enough different types then it might take a long time to get all the ones you want as free drops so there will always be a good motivation for just buying them outright in the store or trading for them in-game.

P.S. Maybe as a compromise they could have some of these provide combat effects but the only ones they would ever sell in the Star Store are the 100% cosmetic ones. The only way to get the "combat affecting" ones would be as rare loot drops in game.

The way I read that, it's

The way I read that, it's only sfx that are being added, in some cases only when a critical hit happens. I'm not seeing any suggestion that they should have extra non-cosmetic effects.

Oh no, my suggestion was not intended for the mod to have any combat effectiveness whatsoever. No, what I meant was that you have a mod that, instead of adding the additional graphic effect on every attack, only adds the additional graphic effect when the attack is a critical hit. The critical hits won't come any more frequently or do any more damage, it'll just sparkle more.

Yep I see that's what you meant now. In my timely defense I am in fact waiting for a new pair of glasses that I should be getting in a few more days so I'll just blame my current semi-fuzzy vision for not reading what you said correctly. Yeah, that'll work. ;)

I guess you could have -some- of these tokens only "proc" on critical hits. Maybe have a few special ones that make an extra flashy BOOM when they do something fancy. But otherwise I'd probably let most of them do whatever they're supposed to do all the time. No reason why you couldn't have a range of rarity amongst these tokens - some of them could be common/basic ones while others could be rare/special ones like you're talking about.
