Hello everybody! My name is Velldred and i want to let you guys know that I am going to make a group (once the game comes out) called: Heroes of Atlas™
What I want for the group are players who have played CoH and players who remember all the times we had!
Next i want people who are willing to help others AKA low level players.
I don't know everything that is happening, but I do know we are going to have so much fun when the game comes out.
Thank you all for reading this and btw the group will be open to all CoH players!
I'll let guys know if there's more to know, but for now, good bye and i'll see you there!
My name's Velldred i'm a former City of Heroes player and i'm here on a mission... To have fun on the new City of Titans!
Probably should be moved to Recruitment: Groups and Events.
Has anyone seen my mind? It was right here...
I didn't know people would look at my post XD

Hi.....I played and loved coh/cov from the very start until the very end as a lot of stragglers on here did!
I'm looking for a not too big group to have fun and make lots of friends once again
I used to be indecisive....but now I'm not so sure........
I don't know if I'd be qualified to help low level players. From what I've seen, the look and feel of CoT is going to be quite different from CoH. It'll take me a while to learn it myself before I'm able to help other folks.
I just hope I can use the arrows to guide my character. If it's click to move or some other crazy thing where I have to use WASD (whoever thought of that should have their head examined, that makes no sense at all), I'll have a little hissy fit.

Before really gaming on the PC, this was before CoH/V, i was mainly a console gamer.
When CoH came out, i was a little baffled about the community not using the Arrow Keys as the primary means of moving around.
Once I learned that it was primarily because of the ease of access to the 1 - 9 keys, for the power activation... then it started to make allot more sense.
So, if you can persuade players to use another set of keys to activate powers, like the NumPad keys, maybe then everyone will start using the Arrow keys primarily to move round. ;D
Hmm... this might bold well/better for players that use the left hand with their mouse, so their right hand is allot closer to the NumPad and the arrow keys. :{
Considering that there is almost a 100% guaranty that all key will be rebindable (except possibly the modifier key) then what key moves you or activates powers are of little concern.
The "legacy" of using WASD for movement come, iirc, from the combination of easy access to other keys, that people are primarily right-handed and that mouse turning is most often more efficient (both speed and precisions) over keyboard turning even more so if you include tilting the camera up and down.
I experience mouse-turning as Less accurate than keyboard, smoother, yes, and faster Only because many games don't allow adjustable key-turn speeds. I prefer to have my targeting and movement keys under my right hand, so I use the Numberpad, and control power-activation with my considerably less nimble left hand. I use the Mouse to control my Camera and only use it for Movement, when I'm Flying over distance, where precise turning and moving left, right, or Backwards are not needed.

That all depends on what the "practical limits" (for combat efficiency) are on speed and precision in that specific game. The less you need that kind of speed and precision the less the difference would be between mouse-turning and keyboard-turning. This difference is, afaik, most notable in high activity games like FPS's (where this control scheme was born?).
I just do not see any setting that would allow a keyboard to have the same range and responsiveness as a mouse, where you can just "nudge" the mouse for small movements but at the same time "throwing" it to the side to do an almost instant 180. Sure, in competitive setting they probably adjust the DPI of the mouse as needed (lower for sniping f.i) which is a fairly standard capability of gaming mice, and I don't see transferring that capability to keyboard turning to be worth the resources spent if done by the game. It would have to be done by either the OS or the keyboard manufacturer (for gaming keyboards).
WASD for movement and I use z,x,c,v,b for abilities combined with the Shift and control combinations so Shift+Z Shift+X so on so on. That is what I use in all my games that I play if able. After those are all used up I then start using the numbers :)
Zekna, Black Mana Guardian. (sewer power leveler)
Please explain how you back up or strafe, side-to-side with a Mouse? How do you rise or 'sink' with a mouse, without changing your camera-direction?
No, I expect the Devs will give us complete control functionality, just like in CoH. Mouse AND Keyboard, key-pad, game-controller, joy-stick, and waldo - whatever it takes to control your game comfortably.
Be Well!
