Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

You'll probably want to

You'll probably want to change the coordinate system definitions accordingly, with the relocation. The original system was predicated on simply rotating it "in place".

So if you have the "north"

So if you have the "north" and "south" peninsulas, does that mean you've discarded the western zones? Especially since about half of which appear to have been dunked underwater anyway by... well, what *are* you calling that giant 'river' that is bigger than the actual bay by a large margin, anyway?

I love seeing how the world

I love seeing how the world is created. This is my second favourite kind of update, after ones about actual game mechanics/rules.

Thanks for managing to get out an update this week despite the massive cinematic distraction at the moment. :-)

Spurn all ye kindle.

So flooding is a problem in the western zones. Important safety tip. Thanks, ConundrumofFurballs! ^_^

But seriously: This is looking more and more like it will wind up being far better than the current massive cinematic distraction. (And that is not that low of a bar. I might be seeing that distraction again...)

Nice! Figuring out how to fix

Nice! Figuring out how to fix those holes with a minimum of work sounds like it was a "Eureka!" moment. Also, better DeathSheepFromBelow than Death(Sheep)FromAbove, amirite?

I probably wouldn't have asked, but I'm glad that little mystery about the Innswich River, assuming that's the southern river, is solved. I did think that, for a river, it looked like a strong contender for being a lake.

Also, kudos for avelworldcreator for so successfully distracting us with his color panels that we'd forgotten that an update was due this week.

Wow, that's one big update. Looks like you guys are getting to the good part of the game making! Can't wait to see the updates to come. Glad to see that the hole issues were figured out. Keep up the great work. And happy holidays!!

That lake-like feature in the

That lake-like feature in the southern river isn't all that odd for the area you placed the map in. A bit north of there in New Hampshire is a feature known as "Great Bay", which is a large tidewater area well inland, which fills and drains via the Piscataqua River through Portsmouth, NH. The mouth of the Merrimac River, just north of your placement area, has a somewhat similar bulge slightly upstream of the actual mouth. The whole coastal region in this area was actually drowned with the sea level rise at the end of the last ice age, and there are a number of features like this where the rising ocean has flooded back into areas that were once land features. In fact, just a bit north of your Titan City area are remnants of some drowned forests: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunken_Forests_of_New_Hampshire

However, I will take issue with your mountains -- nothing along that coastal area is higher than a couple hundred feet, as far as I know. So the topography of your Massachusetts is rather divergent from reality. Looks like your mountains might be in the thousand-foot or higher range? I don't think there's anything very high near the coast until you get up into southern Maine. Mount Agamenticus (in York ME) is the tallest thing I know of near the coast, and it's only about 700 feet. Anything higher than that is well inland.

Obviously, the demands of the game engine trump the real world influence, but mountains along the coast just aren't part of the geology of the area. (End geo-pedantic rant...)

Quite correct, which is why I specified what source I used. They are from further inland, but the needs of the game engine required moving *something* there, so we moved those inland features to the coast.

Oh wow... it would be awesome to have a sunken forest as part of the in-game landscape! (It would remind me of certain areas of Perez Park, without being an exact copy)!

Until after now...

Incidentally, I was born in Exeter, NH and grew up in Stratham, so quite familiar with the sunken forests, the Great Bay, etc. In fact the Great Bay helped in forming that particular piece of terrain.

We have to take some liberties, it is a different world after all. But we've tried to make it fit the area within the limits of game tech.

A (not so) quick Wikipedia search makes it more likely to be an Edward Lee reference... who calls Lovecraft one of his major influences. ^_^

Or maybe it's just the sort of name places get in New England.

Why reference just one horror writer when you can reference one who references another in his work and get two for the price of one?

This makes me curious what limitations you were running into, because I can't think of any off the top of my head where that would be the sanest (or even a terribly effective) answer. So clearly something new, or at least not particularly obvious before, it would seem?

Not odd in and of itself, but a fair bit odd when taken in conjunction with the "main" bay to the north of it. But according to COF it isn't really supposed to be quite the way the map shows it right now anyway, so.

Based on my memory plus what I see there, I would lay good odds that what was done was a "flood fill" on the unified map. One of the reasons for having generated the masking outline for ocean data was to help ensure that a flood fill could be properly bounded, to prevent exactly that situation, but it only really "works" if you do that *before* blending the two -- too much of the city is basically down within "margin of error" compared to the nominal sea level, otherwise.

Also, doing a simple flood fill won't properly reflect the actual height of a river surface as soon as you get into any section that is actually "flowing" rather than "tidal backwash", since technically it should be at least very-slightly-higher... admittedly, for game purposes that can be fudged easily enough, but it does mean that a simplistic flood fill really isn't going to give you anything like a "good" water level except for the parts of the map that are in fact "flooded", i.e. ocean -- which is to say "outside the mask" (or inside, I suppose, depending on how you interpret it).

Actually, this would be (the

Actually, this would be (the mountains that shouldn't be there) an opportunity for Lore to diverge from reality. Make them a "terrain feature" generated by "geo" superpowers run amok back over half a century ago which are just permanent.

If we can have superhurricanes wreck cities thanks to superpowers, why can't we have "mountain ranges" spring up on one side of the city thanks to superpowers. The only difference is the ... longevity ... of the features. Weather disperses "quickly" while stone tends to take a while to revert to former states.

If nothing else, it makes for an excellent reason for a major Urban Renewal in the city's history that's "now" generations old by the time we get to play the game.
