So I've got a pretty fleshed out backstory, but can't come up with a good name for the life of me.
The story starts on Halloween night with a young man sneaking into a cemetery with some friends after a costume party. They're exploring and getting into some light mischief when the police arrive. The kids split up and the hero goes to hide in a tomb. When he opens the tomb he releases an ancient spirit that was trapped in there for a millennia. The spirit tells him that he served as a spirit of vengeance before he was trapped, but he needs a human host to resume his duties. Hero agrees and now they hunt demons, vampires, blah blah blah.
Some info on the hero:
Dressed as a scarecrow with a Jack-o-lantern head that the spirit inhabits. When evil is present, the Jack-o-lantern glows with a ghostly flame (kinda like "Spidey sense".)
Kinda similar in concept to The Spectre, Ghost Rider, Blade, etc.
Some names I tried include, The Tollman and Living Lantern, but neither really quite covers it for me.
If they're a teen Hallow-Teen
But other than that
Dark Lantern
The Hallowed One
Halloween Knight
Jack of Lanterns
Night Terror
That's all I got for now.
"Let the past die. Kill it if you have to."
Headlass (if it was a female)
Ravengence (raven + vengence)
Neochai (neo + Eochai)

"Let the past die. Kill it if you have to."
If his body is a scarecrow call him Burlap Jack. To me it’s simultaneously low-key and still sinister, like a spooky legend criminals talk about at night.
Love it.
"Let the past die. Kill it if you have to."
That's an awesome avenue that I didn't consider. Gives it kind of an urban legend kind of vibe.
