so, those call of duty players dont like nerdy superpowers. or alot of them. many don't even like "iron man" outside being a concept, and a movie. but, that said, they would love to see how they fare vs people with superpowers.
so let them.
it might be very hard to compete, but with your standard weapons store, and a non-super anything character model, at least they can play. every boxer wants to know how fast he can knock out a average person, every average person wants to know how long they can last against a boxer.
this model could be good for the utterly free-to-play model too. they only get access to non-super powered people. who shop at normal gunshops. if they want to "cheat" they can subscribe and play with superpowers as the game was meant too. not really pay to win, just with that taste it lets them have something to compare it too.

Why would we want twitchy FPS Players mucking up our MMO?
I'm not saying that there aren't good people playing Call of Duty, but I don't see why we would Target them as a desirable player-base for our game.

We've got the CoD players covered if they want to design a normal human being. Honestly, CoX had a ton of conventional weapons at your fingertips! Assault Rifle, Dual Pistols, Thugs, Ninjas, Ninjutsu, Ninja Blade, Katana, Broadsword, Traps, Devices, Sprint, Battle Axe, War Mace, Martial Assault, Street Justice, Martial Arts, Staff Fighting, Munitions ancillary powerset, some of the more realistic Titan Weapons if they make their average Joe particularly beefy...
We're good if we go with even half of that.

While I don't think we should make an effort to alienate any potential customers, neither should we go out of our way to try to poach players from a game that is wildly different than the concept that we are attempting to emulate. That, and honestly CoD does not have a reputation for having the kinds of players that we really want in out community.
As AAlbusUUmbra pointed out, we are likely to have plenty of "mundane" options for people that like Batman, the Punisher, Deathstroke, and similar characters, because sometimes it's just that much more badass to be the guy without special powers that's kicking ass alongside cyborgs, mutants, and mages.

does it matter? all those call of duty fans are playing a video game. many, like wow players, it is their first serious videogame experience.
many of them have never had a second game. never made the transition to something slightly different yet fun. and those games have done nothing new in a decade.
tens of millions of players.
