Little has been learned about the hero "Ebon". It is possible he is not from our dimension, as DNA tests produced inconclusive results.

However, his continued association with the leaders of The Justice Brigade make him nearly as much a threat as they are.

[center][b]Combat Statistics[/b][/center]

Despite appearing to be a hero that relies on magic-based attacks, he seems to have limited himself to powers that either attack from a distance or send an opponent that gets in close flying away from him. He also has a tendency to remain in flight while engaged in combat -- in fact it has been noted that Ebon rarely lands even when out of combat and rarely seems to tire.

Whatever method he uses to conserve his energy, this odd tendency does not seem to hinder his combat effectiveness, and he has been witnessed to remain in flight and constant combat for extended periods of time. Regardless of whether this hero’s threat level is upgraded in the future or not, it is recommended that more of his DNA be acquired and studied -- His abilities definitely seem to extend beyond their apparent mystical nature.

Recently Ebon has been observed using a new attack at close range, one that isn’t sending his opponents flying. But it has also been noted that those opponents tend to be dazed after this new attack, implying that Ebon is extending the range of his power-base.

He appears to have no stealth capabilities, and his low constitution means he rarely tackles higher-level missions by himself. However, as a teammate, he represents a higher risk-factor. While his offensive tactics have been limited until recently, his defensive and supportive tactics show his potential threat.

Despite being offensive-based, he also has shown a mastery of Teleportation spells, able to move both teammates and villains through fold-space at will. Another factor is his ability to keep track of his fellow heroes. While he is prone to the combat-rush that all offensive characters are subject to, he shows a high level of awareness of his teammates, and is more-than-willing to sacrifice himself to allow his fellow heroes to make a timely retreat when necessary. This knack has put him in danger often, and even facilitated his capture multiple times, but the Paragon Medical Center’s Hero-recovery system remains a mystery we have yet to break, and keeping any hero in custody remains difficult.

It seems likely that, with his mystical base, Ebon will eventually develop another power-set, one that will again be focused on assisting his teammates.

[center][b]Contacts & Allies[/b][/center]

While a minor threat on his own, Dulcevida, also a member of The Justice Brigade, has been a major threat, and the two together have wreaked havoc among many groups in opposition to Paragon City, and to Crey Industries itself. While facts about this relationship remain uncertain, it is clear that the two heroes have a special bond and are willing to go to extreme lengths while working together.

Two other heroes that Ebon spends frequent time with are fellow Justice Brigade member Barbequeen and Ms Guided Force of The Archons of Justice. There is also an anomaly in scans made of Ebon. While there is no question of his focus in the here and now, there appears to be a slight temporal or quantum phase about him, implying that he is either communicating with -- or simultaneously in contact with -- another dimension or plane of existence. This possibility is more proof that Ebon could become a higher threat in the future, and needs to be studied more closely.

While the three heroes listed above seem to be Ebon’s main compatriots, as previously noted, Ebon seems to be a force to be reckoned with inside The Justice Brigade. He is frequently seen with its leader, Kid Courage, and there is some indication that the two heroes knew each other before Kid Courage formed the group, although it is clear that Ebon is not a charter member. Ebon has also worked with some of the more powerful members of the brigade, including Hrafn, Williepete, Eterna, Daimaru, Henry Bowman and spends frequent time with the heroes Intrepid Glory, Shadow Sentinel and others. He is clearly one of the ranking officers and appears to have been instrumental in recruiting at least a few members.

Finally, Ebon has been seen with many unlikely heroes early in his known career, including Super-Hero, Tarla and Posi, all Major threats in the past but seen infrequently recently. How these contacts will affect the future of this hero is unclear at this time.

While the list below is likely incomplete, the following power-types have been observed on numerous occasions and are at least the most-often and most-likely to be encountered and prepared for:

*It is assumed that Ebon has the ability to Hover, a less-taxing version of flight; however since he never seems to exhibit any endurance drain while in any form of flight, it is unclear if he has both or some new form of the power.

**These abilities are assumed. Ebon has shown a remarkable ability to sustain his attacks non-stop throughout a lengthy combat, and it is unlikely that he could do so without the assistance of this type of power set (which seem to always go together), whether natural or through spells.

[i]NOTE:[/i] Ebon seems to be missing a couple of basic abilities that nearly every other hero in Paragon City have: Brawl and Sprint. When knocked to the ground, Ebon moves at a very slow rate and he almost never throws a simple punch. Whether this is a choice or a flaw remains to be seen.

[center][b]Conclusion[/b][/center]

Once again, it must be emphasized that this hero bears continued surveillance, both as a member of The Justice Brigade and as an individual. His work in the brigade and with other heroes makes him a constant threat. And as most heroes of his clearance level, his potential seems unlimited, making him a perfect subject for the Paragon Protector project. Also, the possibility that he is from another dimension, and continues to make contact with that other dimension, make him an enigma that must be solved. Recommendation: Increase surveillance and study, recruit or capture if possible, but not at the expense of any current projects.

[center][b]Update[/b][/center]

The above information has not been updated regularly due to the infrequent sightings of Ebon recently, however new information is finally deemed worthy of noting:

Reports from the RWZ have noted that Ebon will travel around the more dangerous zones encased in a protective bubble that seems to make him nearly impervious to most damage. He was even seen surviving multiple full barrages from one of the Ritiki Pilons connected to the mother ship, a defensive ability not usually found in heroes specializing in ranged attacks.

He has also been seen wading in and taking on large groups of high-powered villains in melee combat for short periods of time without suffering greatly. These combination of abilities have been noted in other high-level ranged combatants, and it must be assumed that he and other mages have been able to reproduce some of the defensive effects noted in the more defensive-minded heroes.

Furthermore, while Ebon still continues to defy the odds by staying airborne most of the time, it has been observed that he seems to be capable of moving at incredible ground speeds -- presumably he's learned magic that lets him replicate super speed. This was only caught in one observation, however, and he is still seen doing mundane tasks while in flight, or moving incredibly slow on the ground when not flying, thus supporting the hypothesis that he's incapable of the basic [i]Sprint[/i] ability.
