The Dwarf didn't show any response to Rifts looks. "Meat and bone is what I see. Better than mine. This is Titan City the smarter folk around here learn not to judge on looks alone, note I said smarter. There are bound to be a few who judge books by their covers. You never know until you take a risk." He grunts trying to pick up the book and gives up "I rather look like you and be able to walk without canes then have people look at me with pity. Hell I take the bullies at school over the pity."
"As for war, wars happen. Give or take there always war somewhere, for this nation a combat situation about every twenty years give or take. I don't so much mind wars sometimes they are needed, but I am not a weapons designer. My first creation was to help people not fight, a means to walk free of pain. In time my friends pointed out I could use it for more. A firefighter immune to fire, a coal miner that don't have to worry about dying in a cave in. A tool, thought no matter what the tool is someone bound to figure out how to hack someone's skull instead of a nail. If war can be fought by remote control is it really war? The Horrors of war is what stops us from being barbarians enjoying the madness. If we can be removed from that horror than it's mindless slaughter. That's what I am afraid of, not that my tool will be in the hands of the Army, but how it will be used by those hands."

Rift listened to what the short man said, taking in his words. He considered them carefully, but he still could not grasp anything to relate to this man, he even may have winced at the comments speaking of war so negatively. Finally, after every word was said and done, the striker spoke again. "I doubt I could explain my hesitation properly." The reptile finally added, in response to the first set of statements. "Suffice it to say, to you, I must really be a monster then. See... The only thing keeping me going is the thrill of a good fight." Rift grinned, and shook his head, disappointed in himself. "I don't have a higher purpose right now. I only have this burning desire to hurt things. I wouldn't be registering to become a hero. I'd be registering to become some kind of violent vigilante."
Rift spied the portal hovering just over Clarkstown, and chose to ignore it momentarily. Undoubtedly, the hellspawn spewing from it would be getting mowed down by actual heroes and those intending to do a bit of good. "I wasn't always like this though. I don't think so at least. I used to have purpose. Something to fight for..." Rift looked back down on the little man, so weak, and so small. A life that could be snuffed out in an instant. And yet, this small man had a sense of purpose that surpassed his own. It wasn't infuriating, no, but rather baffling. A man would could be snuffed out in an instant be a random mugging gone too violent, or a car not seeing him like it might a child, or even his weak body simply giving up. Behind all that, he still had powerful ideals, and a purpose. "But I can't remember what I fought for... So I just keep fighting for the sake of it. Would you really want that fighting alongside one of your machines under the protection of these super-laws?"
Stalkers don't die: They simply... Disappear.
"Most of those laws is for people like you to live a so called normal life. To be treated fairly and equally, someone with superspeed can't be given more workload than a normal person because he can do it faster for example. There also medical benefits of being registered if your wounded or dying having your records on file would help the hospitals. As for liking to fight..." He stood up and looked up at Rift's face "Why aren't you hitting me? I knew people that enjoyed that when I was younger kicking my canes out from under me and laughing as they toss pebbles at me. Words that stung worse than being hit with sticks. Is it the blood you like? Is it the pain in your victim's face? Tell me what is it about fighting you enjoy?"

Sam treated Izzy to a look of respect. He didn't realize that she could muster that kind of glare. But it did nothing for Sam, really.
"Isabella, I get the death glare from villains day in and day out. No offense, but your hair eyeball isn't really gonna phase me. Oh, there's Sarah, gotta go." Sam said as Sarah came waling back down the hall, smiling at him. He stuck out his arm and she looped hers through it. Peeking back over his shoulder before they exited the office, he shot a friendly smirk in her direction. "Later Izzy!"

"That's as far as I understand the benefits going" Rift started, relaxing back down again. He turned the question over in his head a couple times before coming to some kind of conclusion. But it wasn't an answer he really expected to be satisfactory. "To ask why I fight: You're trying to pick me apart now." The reptile sighed, crossing his arms once more and shifting his weight back to one knee. "I fight... For the thrill of a strong opponent. Excitement. A life I could end in an instant isn't worth the effort." The striker turned a hand over, an empty gesture of 'that's all I've got' without any words to add to that.
He could see something distance, almost like a cloud, only the cloud was very low, and was marred by pops and explosive flashes. "Out that way for example--" The striker pointed off in the direction of Clarkstown. "There's certainly a fight going on. However..." The striker sneered and gave a disapproving grunt. "The odds of getting a decent fight out of something like a swarm is... Depressingly Low."
Stalkers don't die: They simply... Disappear.
"All you got is your claws, all I got is my mind. Of course I'm trying to pick you apart it the only thing I can do. Sounds to me you enjoy the challenge more than the battle." At that time he felt his phone buzz and looked at it "Seems my friend might disagree about the threats over there. He called in some more powerful weapons."
He returns the phone to his pocket and sat down again. "As for registering or not, that's up to you. Really you don't have to do any crime fighting if you register it's just so the authorities will know you're out there. Someone who registered don't have to be active, and thought people should some don't and still are active crime fighters. Those who do crime well they get on the list eventually when they are arrested."

Izzy can't help but chuckle as Sarah arrives, waving the couple off as she saunters off to practice her intimidating glare. Sarah proceeds to lead Sam to the Phoenix Statue within the Plaza, their favorite spot for lunch. Taking a moment to relax as she sits upon a bench, she takes a moment to smile to Sam as she smiles towards him.
"I hope Izzy didn't give you the third degree? And how does Phoenix Burger sound?"

"Oh, I've got more than just claws. But if you say so, I'll give it a peak." Rift swiped a hand through the air, gingerly easing a portal open to pour him out into Clarkstown. His guesstimate should place him on top of a building from the looks of it. With this distance, it was hard to judge if he'd overshoot, or come up short at all. The portal gave a hissing pop sound rather than the more violent thunderous tearing sound that came with the aggressive tearing he usually used to rip through. Consideration for the man's eardrums perhaps? who knew. "Another time perhaps." Rift stepped through the portal, the vortex closing behind his tail with a shewp sound.
Stalkers don't die: They simply... Disappear.
"Nah, only the second degree. Has she been taking death glare lessons from you or is she just naturally talented? Actually, I had someplace a little more private in mind." Sam said, smiling.
Through patient exploration of the Phoenix statue, Sam had discovered a section of the tail that had a hollow in it between two layers of the fire-feathers. The ceiling formed by the next layer of feathers was a bit low, but the design of the statue allowed the little hollow to stay airy so that it didn't feel cramped or stifling.
Sam led Sarah back towards the tail, then took a quick look around. Seeing no one, he snugged an arm around her waist and leaped towards the hollow. Throwing out a strand, he swung them into the hollow and they slid into it. Sam had stuck up some white LED press lights to the "ceiling" and then laid out a picnic blanket and basket. "What do ya think?"
Putting yourself in another persons shoes emotionally is something that everyone has to experience eventually. It's part of learning to be a human being. Roleplayers do it for fun.
Sarah smirks as she replies whilst being leg to the picnic area Sam created. "I think she is just naturally talented...though I swear she has been watching a bit more Kevin Conroy interviews then necessary." Jokes, before gasping at the rather picturesque scene before her, instantly responding by stealing a loving kiss from Sam as she states happily.
"How did you-but this is...I love it!"

Shepherd who was relaxing in one of the benches by the statue waved at Sarah while enjoying a slice of pizza.
"In the end there can be only one" The Highlander
Sarah waved back before silently excusing herself from the picnic ambush to stride over and hug Shepard, speaking happily.
"I haven't seen you in weeks and all I get is a wave, you should be tried." She jokes with a grin.

Shepherd smile ashe put down the pizza and gave Sarah a hug.
"I have just been very busy with the recent portals opening up through out the city in recent weeks, the TCPD and Titan's Legacy has had me investigating them."
"In the end there can be only one" The Highlander
She grins as she steps back, speaking quietly as to not reveal her identity.
"You know you can ask for my help right? I'm not all battling overzealous 'alien conquerors' or blasting meteorites for NASA." Jokes, half seriously.

Shepherd chuckles to himself.
"I know I can count on you for help. You did get me the job with the TCPD after all as per Lady Nova's reccomendation."
Shepherd smiled at her.
"In the end there can be only one" The Highlander
Sarah smirks as she states with a growing smile.
"It wasn't hard to convince them you were right for the job, your a superb hunter...not that I don't like keeping to my side of the fence so to speak." She then inquires with a grin.
"And how is Luna and Sampson, the others? Can we expect a baby Shepard soon?" Teases, becoming ever elated in his presence, letting go of some built up stress from events previous.

Shepherd smiled a his friend.
"Luna and Samson are doing very well. And we are working on a baby Shepherd. It will take time."
Shepherd chuckled.
"In the end there can be only one" The Highlander
Sarah blinks as she takes that in, before exclaiming...quietly of course.
"Wait, I was right?!" Smiles, as she hugs Shepard again.

Shepherd chuckled.
" Yes you were right. We've had it planned for a while."
"In the end there can be only one" The Highlander
Sarah smiled wide as she states.
"Does this mean my fears of being made a babysitter in any capacity have been realized?" She jokes.

Shepherd smirked at the question.
"Maybe, but I'm sure you can handle it."
Shepherd winked at her.
"In the end there can be only one" The Highlander
Sam poked his head out of the hollow and looked down to where Shepherd and Sarah were talking. "Oy, Shep! Quit making moves on my girl!" he yelled good-naturedly, a grin on his face.
Putting yourself in another persons shoes emotionally is something that everyone has to experience eventually. It's part of learning to be a human being. Roleplayers do it for fun.
Sarah chuckled as she turned back to Sam,offering wryly.
"Well now that you mention it he does have some divine charm." She teases, before walking back to Sam to lay against him on the picnic blanket, exhaling tiredly.
"Ugh, I'm done for the day...oh wait, that's right, have hours of patrol later." Deadpans humorously.

Sam inhaled the sweet scent of her hair and then kissed her on top of her head. "So, not going back to work then, I take it?"
As he waited for her to answer, he scooched over and then reached into the basket to began pulling out food. Several sandwiches, a small tub of potato salad, a crockery dish of macaroni and cheese, a zip-loc bag of rolls, a bottle of wine, and two glasses. From another zip-loc bag beside the basket, he retrieved plates and plastic utensils.
Putting yourself in another persons shoes emotionally is something that everyone has to experience eventually. It's part of learning to be a human being. Roleplayers do it for fun.
Sarah chuckles as she replies rather gleefully.
"I can have my co-counsel take over for the rest of the day, Izzy will help, so no, I won't be." Inhaling the scent of the scrumptious mac and cheese and potato salad, she takes a plate happily and begins to respectfully fill it, smirking at the wine as she recounts fond memory months past.
"The same wine on our Date Night...remember how smoothly that went?" She grins.

Early evening, a few Mondays later:
A dark blue PT Cruiser pulled into the parking lot next to the Central Library. Stickers on the front doors advertised the Mercer Gallery, a smaller sticker in the left rear window proclaimed the car "An Electric Conversion from M&O AE&G". On the back bumper was a sticker advising:
In the driver's seat, Toni Mercer pulled into an empty space, and checked to see if the line was close enough before turning off the power. His dad didn't often let him use the car yet, so he was being much more cautious than he would be if he had his own vehicle.

Rose smiled to herself in the passenger seat as she set her bag within the backseat, eyeing the Library before them curiously before turning to Toni with a smile, recognizing his cautiousness.
"Hey, you did fine, you didn't run over any stopsigns, and only hit one ghost...don't worry she's fine. I will be driving soon enough, and you did fine Toni. Now, ready for old fashioned investigation?"

"Yeap." He walked up the stairs to the front doors, holding one open first for Rose, and then for a tall girl slightly darker than Rose, with had the oddest pale white aura, who was going out. She thanked him, and walked briskly down to the street. Toni barely paid attention to her, other than the bit of courtesy in holding the door; he quickly caught up with Rose as they passed through the scanners and entered the library proper.
With his Spirit Sight spell up, Toni scanned the library, noting peoples auras, and trying to determine who the witch was, if she was here. As he turned his gaze behind the counter, he spotted several interesting things. One desk had a warding spell on its lock. That same desk had a nametag that read "Hypatia Argyros". It also had a photo in a frame, with three young women in it: an African-American on the left wearing what could only be described as modern cowboy formal, a blonde girl on the right in a USAF officer's uniform, silver bars shining on her collar, and a girl with Mediterranean features and dark brown hair in the middle holding a certificate of some sort...

Rose regards the woman with the peculiar aura with a curious look, offering a friendly smile to her as they stepped aside to enter, thankful for Toni's gentlemenly nature as they entered. Once they had passed through the scanners, Rose regarded the picture of the three women thoughtfully as well when Toni's gaze swept over it, commenting.
"Their beautiful. A adoption, perhaps?" She can't help but smile at the happiness emanated from the photo, before turning to the nametag of 'Hypathia Argyros', inquiring softly so that only he may hear.
"Is this our friend? And where is Setzer...wait, do you have the Calling spell?"

"So are we looking for someone in particular, at the moment," Connor inquired passively as he leaned against the desk nearby, currently flipping through a book entitled Marketing the YOU: A Guide to a Better Public Image. He seems to have a habit of simply showing up.
He eventually tosses the book aside with a grumble along the lines of "stupid self-help asshattery" before looking at the two properly.
Composition Team
Setzer came out of the shadow of a nearby study table and leapt up onto the counter. Looking at the nametag, he nodded.
Toni, however, replied, "no, Setzer knows of it, but he's never learned it... Hi, Connor."
That was when he noticed movement out of the corner of his eye, a gold and silver aura in his Spirit Sight. It was attached to the woman from the photograph, the one holding the certificate. Except that her hair was not the dark brown, but a reddish gold, concealed by an illusion of being dark brown...
Hypatia Argyros Looked at the three unusual young people - and a most unusual cat - as she approached the counter. In a voice with a touch of a Greek accent she asked, "May I help you?"

Rose can't help but quietly yelp as Connor pops up, but seems none too agitated by it as she smiles in greeting to him, recalling their time spent talking earlier.
"Hello Connor, and hey, don't dismiss it till you try it?" She jokes, before smiling to herself as she recognises the presence of a fellow witch, offering a cordial hand to Pat as she introduces herself, flashing a smile to Setzer in greeting as well.
"A pleasure to meet you Miss Argyros, I'm Rosella Burdelon, I'll let him explain." She turns to Toni expectantly but not impatiently.

Toni shook hands with Hypatia, and said, "HI, I'm Toni Mercer, this is Connor, and this is Sir Sings Loudly. An old friend of his said you might be able to help us out..."
Hypatia laughed, but quietly. "Old enemy was the way I heard it. But Rhythiel is on the side of the angels now, so that counts for less than you might think. Let's have a seat." She indicated a table with several chairs around it...

Connor furrows his brow a bit, but takes the seat regardless. "Old enemy? I fear I'm a bit out of the loop here."
Composition Team
Rose smiled to Pat as she sat down at the table directed, turning to Connor as she explain.
"Rhythiel I believe is a demon, a former servant of Lilith before switching sides?" She looks to Toni for confirmation.

Toni nodded, and filled in a bit more for Connor. "Setzer there is a lot older than he looks. He tangled with a Daughter of Lillith, named Rhythiel, up in Montreal, about thirty-five years ago. She turned up here about a month or so ago, bent on turning over a new leaf, and ran into Setzer last week. He told me she's already run into a few of the local magical types, including Miss Argyros, who knows books."
"Please, call me Pat." She smiled. "And so you came to ask about books?"

"And it would seem that just about none of that is my department," Connor says, mostly to himself in response to Toni's explanation. He then tents his fingers and waits for the conversation to continue.
Composition Team
Rose nods as she replies in response to Pat's question as she looks to the boys to help explain as she begins.
"Pat, we were seeking book with a list of dark supernatural creatures that could inhabit or take over a mortal shell, along the lines of a shadowbeast or wendigo?"

"Ah, this is about that mess last night in Clarkstown? I'm afraid you'd be looking at several books, at least if you wanted more than generalities. Most books only cover only one culture, or at most a group of related cultures. But there are exceptions, such as some notebooks of mages of various sorts and professional monster hunters. Hold on..."
Those sensitive to magic would notice a flare of energy as Hypatia reached under the table and brought her hands back up with a large leather bound book. "I found this in Chicago a few years ago. Reportedly it was owned by one of two fire mages who lived there in 1871. This is mostly not fire magic, though, it's other magics and lore the mage collected. Spells of various traditions, and a bestiary of sorts. That last part is where you'll find the information about a fairly large number of possessing monsters, including a surprising amount from Asia and the Western Pacific. I'm only lending this to you; if you can, copy out the information you want, then bring it back. Actually, copying the whole thing would probably be a good idea. I don't advise posting it online, though. If I need it before you're done, I'll call if I have time, and if not, well, the spell I just used is fairly reliable."
She slid the book over to Rose. Then she handed out business cards, two to each of the humans. "The goldenrod colored card is for my alter ego. The silver one is for a friend of mine, she collects books, and trades in information to pay for buying them. Information is about all she can help you with, but if I hadn't had this in my own collection, I'd have suggested you talk to the Book Wyrm."
(The cards have contact info for Goldenrod and the Book Wyrm, respectively)

Rose takes the book gingerly as she notes the power and lore contained, but nods steadily to Pat at the terms laid out, inquiring.
"Would it be acceptable for me to magically inscribe the knowledge into a blank tome?"

Hypatia nodded. "That would be the fastest way to safely copy it, I think. And by the way, there's some onionskin with my own comments in with the spells. You'll want to copy those too, especially if you plan on casting them. There are some... glitches with a few of the spells that the mage who collected them didn't catch. Or maybe he thought the warning wouldn't be needed."

Perhaps he didn't see the need in dumbing if down? And does this book have a name?" She begins to flip to what she hopes is this spell glossary as she speaks.

Hypatia nodded. "He may have thought that no mage could be unaware of the hazards. I, however, have been bitten by that sort of 'everyone knows' attitude. So was the mage who wrote it, though he didn't realize it. There's a Calling spell, he noted that the servants it calls are rude and insolent. Apparently he didn't know it's supposed to call an ally, a teacher or a companion. Anyway, I call it the Chicago Codex. I put a table of contents on some onionskin in front."

Rose smiles as she begins to flip to the said contents page, adding in reply to Pat.
"I see. Perhaps it simply depends on the innermost intentions of what you hold in store for the subject called? I seek to use the spell to summon or at the very least lead me to a appropriate familiar."

Connor takes a careful look at the two cards that he's offered, pocketing after taking some time to study them. He continues to remain silent as the others talk, seemingly thinking.
Composition Team
"Well, it depends on what you're calling a 'familiar'," replied Hypatia. "If you want a friend to watch your back or a mentor to teach you things, or both, and maybe help out in other ways, the Calling spell is just what you need. But this guy thought of a familiar as somewhere between a go-fer and a slave. He got something that could've been a friend, and it got surly when he treated it like a servant."
"So, Psychopomp, what can I do to help you out?"

Rose nodded as she replied with a smile, liking the witch more and more as they conversed.
"I want a friend and mentor, not a servant or slave to belittle or mock. I want a companion in my adventures, a privilege free of will, not a pet. I believe the Calling spell is right for me, Setzer...do you have an opinion on this?" She inquires to the Knight of Summer.

"Oh, I'm just with them," Connor says, tenting his fingers again, "the information gathering bit was the extent of my interest, really. Don't mind me, I'm just the furniture."

Rose can't help but smile to Connor as she comments. "Hey now, no, your're Connor, your our friend. And do you want me to give you a copy of the copy of the book I plan to make?"

Connor shrugs. "Sure, I'll take a copy out of curiosity, I suppose. Not much reason not to, if it isn't much trouble."
Composition Team
Setzer nodded, raised his right forepaw, turned the inner edge up, and extended the topmost claw. The equivalent, perhaps, of turning a thumb up?
Hypatia nodded to Connor. "Well, it's good to meet you, anyway."

"Maybe not in the middle of a public library, but in a secluded place with the three of us watching, I don't see why not," Connor says, clearing his throat a bit.
Composition Team
"Naturally. Can you think of a place, if Pat minds us doing it here?" She inquires.

"I can arrange a place, if we need it," Connor says, rising from his seat, "we won't even have to walk very far."
Composition Team
Hypatia shook her head. "No, this isn't a good place. Somewhere with access to open spaces is better for that spell, in case whoever answers doesn't have a way around them, and the head librarian frowns on leaving the doors open. I would advise, though spending a couple of days studying it, making sure you have it all fixed in your head. Sometimes taking time to read the spell while you are casting it is not a good idea."

Rose nods as she replies, first to Pat. "Because you want to sound confident in summoning whatever creature you desire, to KNOW what you would want without demanding. Thank you for this Pat, and I will, though to be honest I've already stewed over the possibilities...I believe I am ready." She then turns to Connor with a smile, offering the boy a smile.
"Good, care to tell us of this place? And thanks Connor, it means alot."

"It's an old barn in the countryside I stumbled into once when my family used to take trips out into the country. It's old and it leaks and I'm pretty sure the property it sits on is abandoned," he says, pocketing his hands and looking over to the nearest door. A subtle, golden spark flicks out from the lock, and extinguishes itself quickly.
"And it's right through there. Be my guest."
Composition Team
Rose blinks as the portal is created, before smiling to him as she offers him a friendly kiss on the cheek, affection lacing her voice. "Thank You Connor, for that privilege...are you ready to go Toni, Setzer?" She inquires to the pair.

Hypatia smiled. "It sounds like just what is needed: privacy and access for whoever you Call."
Toni stepped over to the door and opened it. Setzer sniffed at the magic that had gone into it, and nodded. Toni asked Rose, "Shall we?"

The building looks just like what was described; an old, run-down barn that, judging by the view peeking in through a few broken slits of wood along some of the walls, was in the middle of an overgrown farm field that hadn't been used for quite some time. A few old boxes and spare mechanical parts line the walls, but the dirt ground of the barn itself is clear, save for a few patches of weeds that have managed to find spots of nearly-constant sunlight in the dappled shade of the tattered roof.
Connor waves to the witch back in the library, then steps in last before closing the door. "So now what?"
Composition Team
Rose smiled back to Pat, speaking quietly. "We should do lunch sometime Pat, and your right. Thank You for ALL of your help!" Rose then nods to Toni, clasping his hand to step forward, as she enters through the doorway. Once within the barn, Rose takes a moment to breathe in the earthy air with a happy sigh before turning to answer Connor.
"I need something to draw a pentagram with, and five candles, emerald please." She grins to Toni at her request, knowing he can conjure what she needed, as she hands the book to Connor. "Care to find the spell in the table of contents, please?"

Connor takes the book and cracks it open, flipping to to the contents page to find the spell that they were looking for. As soon as he spotted it, the rest of the pages turned one at a time on their own, as if a quick breeze had blown them to the proper page. "Alright, this should be it."
Composition Team
Rose smiled at the aid, taking the book and promptly laying it down before her as she moved to sit cross-legged on the floor of the barn, remembering that she has the canister of salt from earlier in her back as she exclaims.
"Oh!!" With that, she suddenly stands and begins to expertly trace a pentagram by drawing a finger into the subject and tracing it upon the floor below her expertly, with clear practice, not a crooked line shown as she sits in the shape quietly, awaiting that candles.

Toni conjured up five candles, emerald green, and handed them to Rose. Then he stepped back, away from the pentacle she was drawing.

Rose smiles in thanks, before placing the emerald candles at the five points of the arcane star, moving back to sit in the center as she called upon her energy for the smell, as the boys and Setzer would notice that her verdant aura is visible lacing her skin, filling the room with the calming sent of sage as she begins the spell.

As the spell finishes, nothing happens at first, with the Chicago Codex before Rose simply shutting. Just as Rose is about to curse and give up, she remembers the words of Pat, and begins to try again, this time more power felt, tendrils of her aura wafting about. This time, her emotions are expanded into the smell, her desire for a friend and mentor pouring through the words of arcane power..as a rift of cobalt, smoky power appears before them.
As ethereal wisps of bluish fog correlates on the ground before them, the relatively small profile of a Setzer sized creature is seen, as wispy, felinian legs form before extending into a hazy, smoky body. It's head lowered, the spectral female cat raises it's face to stare at a awed Rose, it's features distinctly that of silver tabby. Taking more of a definite volume, it's revealed not to be entirely ethereal, but it's fur is a mystifying, almost pulsing constellation like pattern, with lines of pulsing white and hypnotic black.
Opening it's eyes to reveal a pair of glowing cobalt irises, the she-cat lets out a tentative meow, scratching briefly at the wisps of fog near her before sitting placidly, allowing them to take in her appearance for a moment longer as she speaks, her tone echoy and soothing, like a lullaby.
*Greetings mortals, I am Morgaine. It is an honor to meet a Knight of Summer such as yourself, Sir Sings Loudly, a Squire like yourself, a fellow witch...and interesting, a bridge to the dead.* She remarks over each of them with a Cheshire and cordial grin, though she hold's Setzer's gaze the longest, curiously.
Clearing her throat and getting over her awe, Rose states quietly. "Morgaine, so that means you are-" Morgaine purrs in acknowledgement at the question, as she states. *Yes, I was formerly known as Morgan Le Fay.* She allows them to take this in.

Although it may hold some weight for the others, all Connor can do is sigh.
"A third cat. At this rate I'm going to go crazy," he mutters to himself.
Composition Team
Morgaine pricks her ears towards Connor as she hears, eyeing him calmly. "And what is wrong with cats, my dear?"

"Mine is, well was, an actual cat. And he's a gigantic smartass," Connor replies in absolute deadpan.
Composition Team
Morgaine gives off what could be a feline chuckle, purring happily. *I see. Well I assure you I will make an effort not to be an intelligent bosom. So what may I call you?"

Connor bends down into a squatting position, eying the cat carefully. He puts his elbows on his knees and rests his head atop his clasped hands, and stares at Morgaine for a few moments.
"Before we get to our names, let's get to yours. Your real one, preferably." His tone is calm, but the accusation of his words might carry quite the insult, considering who he is speaking to.
Composition Team
Morgaine lets out what could be considered a sigh, as she locks eyes with Connor, with Rose looking on curiously. *My name was Elia, when I was Morgan's familiar...after Mordred was defeated, she passed her magic to me to offer me a long life and sentience, and a unlikely chance to better her name in history. I took on her name after she passed, and have been trying to make amends for her crimes, by bringing a good light to her identity."
Rose blinks as this, as she inquires. "For how long, Elia." The cat shifts her paws uncomfortably, as she states. "For the last roughly thousand years."

"See? Now that wasn't so hard, was it?" Connor says as he returns to a standing position. "And now that we're in the clear, I'm Connor, the current Wicket Door."
Composition Team
Elia purrs in assent, eyeing up cutely to Connor. *No, I don't suppose it wasn't, and the Wicket Door? You are not a myth, a rumor?"

"Well, I suppose not," Connor says, pocketing his hands again, "have you heard of uh, the others, before?"
Composition Team
Elia takes a moment to approach a still sitting Rose, prancing within her lap before laying there contently. "I believe so, once or twice in passing murmurs from mages."

"I'm a bit surprised, I guess," Connor says, shrugging, "I suppose it's a bit of a Big Secret, considering how little people seem to know. I'm new to the job, so I'm still feeling my way around, so to speak. No public reputation is good public reputation, I suppose."
Composition Team
Elia purrs back in response. *Maybe, but I believes Wickets work best when not heard of, without notoriety, then again it's up to you ro decide how you want to act, it's your responsibility.*

"Rest assured I'm not one for attention anyway," Connor says, waving dismissively, "working without being bothered is good enough for me."
Composition Team
Elia nods, as best she could try to convey being a cat, anyway. *But I trust you also know when to call on others for aid, or not shut others out?"

"Well, yes, I value my life above being alone, after all," Connor answers with a bit of confusion to his voice, as if he were sure that the answer to that would be an obvious one.
Composition Team
Elia remarks back amidst swishing her tail and still chasing the wisps of fog with her paws swatting. *Maybe so, but you do look like you don't get out often enough, Connor. Wicket Door or not you still have your responsibilities as a teenager to have fun.*

Toni nodded. "This is a wise Wise Cat. You do seem to forget the saying about all work and no play, Connor." Setzer added in his own nod.

Elia purred in response the the compliment and bounded over to Toni, rubbing against his leg affectionately before turning to eye Setzer, her whiskers pricking up happily. *Why that you for the compliment, Squire. And hello, Sir Sings Loudly.* She then adds for his ears only to hear with a meow, not knowing Toni can interpret their speech.
*Come to calling rituals often?*

*No, and perhaps I should,* replied Sings Loudly. *I think I should warn you, though, that my Squire has Elven blood, and can understand our speech.*

*Oh, he can? Well, I assume he has heard much worse attempts to get your attention, I imagine?* Elia purred, before adding after a moment of thought. "So, may I ask what brought you to him being your charge, and friend? A ritual like this?*

Connor rolls his eyes and sighs. "I'll be fine. I've been fine up until this point anyway," he remarks. swaying forward and back on the balls of his feet as the two cats do...Whatever it is they were doing.
Composition Team
Setzer settled back and cast his communication spell, and included both Rose and Connor so they could understand as he told the story to Elia.
*It all started when King Oberon asked me to investigate a troll that had reportedly taken over a town just into the No-Elfs-Land between the Seilidhe and Un-Seilidhe courts. When I got there, I poked around, and found that they had started giving tribute to this troll in the form of their children. To eat, for those of you who may be unfamiliar with the habits of trolls. It seemed, however, that a local wizard there had had second thoughts about whether or not this was a just course of action, possibly because his daughter had been selected to be the next victim. He had decided to summon a substitute, to distract the troll and townsfolk alike while he and his daughter escaped.*

Elia and Rose both nodded at listening to Setzer's story, speaking at the same time. "Continue, please." Elia offers a catlike grimace, before remarking further. *And trolls have always been nasty to deal with, but to hear of mortals offering their children to spare themselves...despicable, but not the first case nor the last.*
