2026 Q2 Update

City of Titans Q2 2026 Update

Happy Summer, Titans! It’s time for our Q2 update– a look into how things are going, what we’re working on, and our goals for the future.

First off, I’m happy to report we’re continuing to make progress on our main goal, which is to get the current city (with its many improvements) to compile in version 5.7 of Unreal. You may recall this process is just a bit of a slog working through bugs and fixes that need to happen to get the city working in a more up-to-date version of Unreal, and unfortunately, while we’ve squashed more bugs and made the city better, we do not have a timeline on finishing this. Work is active and ongoing!

Next, we have some new things we’ve been working on! As we plan out future missions and sections of the city, we’ve built new in-engine tools that allow us to procedurally build neighborhoods and other new areas. This isn’t the kind of randomized, procedurally generated area you might expect with popular games like Minecraft or No Man’s Sky, but a more controlled, precise implementation of streets, homes, and sundry other details.

Here’s a look at it in development using test assets.

We are also continuing to develop our own, in-house, enemy combat AI. We’ve discussed movement in the past, but the primary work now is in configuring power selection behavior and how it relates to position. And we don’t just mean “Use ranged attacks far away, use melee attacks while close”– we’re talking strategic coordination of groups as well as how effectively they hunt you down. The plug-in we’ve created not only utilizes predictable (and thus learnable) behavior patterns, but also gives developers access to difficulty settings! Having an easy-to-use tool is important for later development, allowing level and mission designers to speedily implement their vision for unique enemy behavior. That accessibility for later developers is an important part of assembling a game intended to live for quite a long time, and we’re excited for you to see this in action!

You can see some of this in one of Fred’s recent videos, here:

Our main goal continues to be to get 5.7 to compile properly, allowing us to not only get a new version of the game into your hands, but for work on online connectivity and more advanced combat to jump start. There’s a lot of pieces ready and rarin’ to go, just as soon as we can get the latest version to finish compiling. And when it does, you’ll be sure to hear from us.

Until next time, Titans!
