Since the Kickstarter is three weeks away, can you tell us how much money needs to be raised, and in what time frame? Anything else you want to add?

More KS info is coming real soon. We intend to preview what will be in the KS before it actually gets posted to KS. -Zombie Man, Online Community Manager

That would be nice to get some spacifics about the KS if your able to do that.
completely stoked about a new superhero game coming out! Looking forward to all the information that will be forthcoming!
Yes, the more hardcopy stuff we can get the better too imo

Hello! My name is Kelso and I was a six year veteran of City of Heroes and played until the game shut down. I am totally stoked about this Kickstarter and The Phoenix Project in general. I am also a TwitchTV broadcaster and am planning a marathon of heroic proportions to bring attention to the Kickstarter campaign at the end of September or the beginning of October, about halfway through the campaign.
Once I know the details of the Kickstarter I will begin planning this event and promoting it like crazy!
Check me out on Twitch.TV over at www.twitch.tv/misterkelso
MrKelso, I would suggest getting a hold of Rae, or PR Lead/Dev, she might be able to hook you up with something if your planning onhelping us with PR. Cheers!

I very much want to get in on the kickstarter.

As do I.
Yo one eye, welcome to the new home! I know many of us are stoked. Me, I'm hoping some new revenue streams open up in time for me to make a bigger donation.

Thanks Shadow. Its nice to have something to look forward to. No matter how many other games I have been trying since the dark, nothing has even come close to filling the hole created when CoH went into the dark.
Deeds Not Words
Has the name for the game or the kick starter project been decided yet? I noticed that on the "kickstarter" website there is already a "phoenix project" & a few other similarly named projects. I was wondering since I thought it was planned to begin on the 8th of September.

I think doing any YOU BETTER PLEDGE NOW OR THERE ARE EXCLUSIVE ITEMS YOU WILL NEVER EVER GET AGAIN is in bad form. It's done on a lot of these KS ones and it turns it into a upjumped 1-2 year old preorder instead of a true crowdfunding drive. Thing is with CoX you had a lot of different people in a lot of different situations and for some people right now trying to come up with 50,75.100 extra dollars might be too much for them. Do they deserve to lose out because they have real life priorities that can't allow them to bankrupt themselves?
I'll use an example. I was thinking about funding the Hex TCG that had a drive recently. They had a few of these PLEDGE NOW OR NEVER BE ABLE TO GET AGAIN kind of things. I e-mailed them and said I wouldn't be able to pay the high price they were asking for some of these items but I would like the chance to try and get them because I like to collect sets and having missing cards would bother me. They replied with pretty much LOL UR OUR OF LUCK SHOULD HAVE TOOK OUT A SECOND MORTGAGE TO GET OUR SUPER RARE SHINY E-CARDS THAT YOU CAN NOW NEVER EVER OWN AGAIN.
I stopped paying attention to that game and never looked back, it was that much of a turn off.
My advice for what it is worth is maybe turn your Kickstarter exclusive cloak and whatever other items you were thinking of into pre-order items. Anyone who funds the Kickstarter drive at a certain level gets the game and also gets the pre order specials like the capes and travel powers and what not.
Besides the anniversary badges I don't remember many things being stuff you could never get again in CoX. You could buy boxes years after the date to get pre order items. VIP sold out eventually but people could get those for a while. And then most of all that got put back in the form of Vet Rewards anyways.
I just think taking Virtual Items which you can make unlimited amounts of and somehow trying to create false scarcity to increase funding revenue would seem to maybe be a bad move. I mean the buildings sound all well and good, you are building them anyways so why not have people use them. Having extended early access or early beta to those who hid certain marks seems fine because it's only time and this isn't some level ranking game where every hour matters so it's not like it has any overall impact. Just anything dealing with the limit of items to funding windows might be in bad taste and to be honest if I saw that stuff on your drive I would probably think twice about funding.
Just my two cents, take it for what it's worth. Also looks like using paragraphs is not allowed on these forums.

I feel a little silly, as I never played COH. These ideas may be no brainers for those who are longtime players, but. What if the KS items/benefits etc were not exclusive to backers, but perhaps less expensive initially than perhaps after game launch. That way everyone would eventually be able to have the same things and still the backers were rewarded per se. Another idea on physical items might be a special fringe or logo which is applied to a cloak/sash etc. Perhaps a Backer specific "founder" plaque that can be displayed at the headquarters. Not sure what other types of swag gamers of this venue would appreciate but you get the idea I hope. Best of luck and looking forward to KS and this new experience. I am having a blast and the game has not even started!

Hey guys.
I am from Brazil and CoX was my game, i made a lot of friends, and me and my boyfriend played a lot. I used to have 5 accounts with lots of toons on Liberty server.
When CoX went down i got almost depressed, but here we are so close to a new chance to have that feeling back when you did a taskforce or trial (eden trial, how much i loved that trial).
Im trying not to be ansious but we are 6 days from KS, can´t wait for information about it.
Also want to know when download will be avaiable to avoid traffic, because i´m sure will be a big hit.
Sorry for my English, btw.
*blinks* Really? I think you might be our first person ever on the forums who hadn't. Which is great! Don't take that wrong. I'm thrilled we've started getting entirely new people involved. I just couldn't help but sit up and take note.

We have been working to limit the number of "ONLY GET THIS NOW" features to those which don't make sense to add later on. Like naming a particular NPC in the game, for instance. In a way, we're not only crowdsourcing the funding, but the game itself - making a game which reflects the community.

5 days for KS and counting down!!!
I feel like a child during Xmas week.
Ed
I believe there was originally an intention of posting the Kickstarter information before it actually launches. I had assumed they would do it a week before (being yesterday or today since yesterday was a holiday), however there has not been anyone concretely saying when they would post anything.
["5 days for KS and counting down!!! I feel like a child during Xmas week. Ed"] Only difference is I cant run and peek at what I got!!!!! ****Mom, I never peeked, honest**** ;)

lol.
I recall once i got an walkman (yeah those with cassetes), and by August i knew and i peeked, and OMG i had to wait until december, was painfull.
September 5th, KS is schedule for Sept 8th, i´m thrilled with eveything.
I imagine that as we don´t hear anything official on the foruns about how´s KS will be, how can we download, contribute, subscribe and else, everyone must be working a lot.
Keep the good work guys.
Can't wait for the kickstarter to begin... I think they're reworking the rewards again haven't seen the newest one yet. Probably keeping it secret until the start day.
any word on that pre-kickstarter information?
Soon™
AAARRRRGGGHHHHHH.... not the Soon™... that's so evil!!
With the delay i'm more than a little surprised not to have come across mention of a possible Nemesis plot...or worse yet a Rangle plot! :)
How many days are you looking to run the Kickstarter? The standard looks like 30 days but from what I've seen you can go longer(some have 45 days).
Reward tactics as well as damage dealing.
Most say stick with 30 as it gives people a sense of urgency - 45 days breeds complacency
It won't matter to those of us that will be donating right off - this will be decided based on those we draw into the fold. We are the base that the new people will stand upon.
Tamorand
Tamorand = (Tahm-o-rand) This name originated from the days of Ultima Online. My first character was a Tamer and a Minstrel and an Archer and a Mage - I couldn't figure out a name to portray all skills in a single word. Hence **Tamer + And ** /shrug
Once it starts, the KS is scheduled to go to Oct 11.

Actually it is set for 33 days from whatever day we are able to start. So oct 11'th would be wrong as an end date.

thanks for clarification. Started to think 30 days. End day is Oct 11th. That means tomorrow on the 12th it would start. So no word yet? Is it still waiting for Kickstarter's word or are the changes still being implemented? And out of curiosity, what type of changes were needed to be made and or were made?
All I can personally say is that we had this issue very much in mind while hammering on the list of rewards to get them into shape to be submitted. Please do not take any of these as hard promises, because I do not have the authority to make any of those, but rather as examples of *some* of the things that might be done to mitigate this issue:

A number of things are specifically not marked as KS-exclusives. How or when they might be offered outside of that is an open question, and there are absolutely no promises made that any given thing will ever be offered again -- but where it is not marked as exclusive, there is no guarantee that it is.

Several items are marked as being exclusive only for a limited time after their first introduction; these are most definitely intended to be offered as non-exclusives once that expires.

There will probably be some set of items where the KS-specific reward is a variation on something normally available, with the difference being that the KS-specific one has a visible "tweak" to show that it was from the KS. An example of this -- and please note, so far as I know this isn't actually a reward anywhere, but always check the final posted list at the KS site -- would be something like a "flip a coin" emote where the KS-specific variant had "KS" visible on the coin in some fashion.

The potential for pre-order items was raised as well. I can't say anything more than "so far as I know it is still on the table as an option for various things" (and even that could be out of date).
But at least one sheep that was involved in (some of) the discussion around the list is a die-hard "gotta catch 'em all" collector (of badges, costumes, in fact darn near everything that has a finite set to collect) and who really, really dislikes the notion of stuff that is *fundamentally* "never again, and not even an equivalent through some other means". Heck, even anniversary stuff; I much preferred the Xmas badges that could be earned in later years for a nominal effort to collect candy canes.
Now, that said:
Several of the items listed are unlikely to be offered again, at the very least any time soon, if they sell out during the KS, because we put as many as we could *in* the KS pool. To take the example of buildings: there are a (very) finite number of buildings available *of any particular type*, because unlike some movie cities, the grid will not consist solely of tattoo shops and strip joints. So unlike many of the other items, they *aren't* something we can simply make an infinite number of meaningfully, and the scarcity is not artificial -- the numbers were calculated based on some assumptions about zone layouts and other details, but we actually pushed the number *upward* from the initial calculation, to make the pool larger and reduce the risk of locking folks out. That said, if they prove to be incredibly popular, we may find ourselves needing to take another look at some assumptions and reconsider them.
Bear in mind that these are also *specific* and recognizable buildings. Also, while I would have to check, I don't think any of them are actually marked as KS-exclusive. They just have a very limited available pool; if that pool expands in the future (for example, as new zones open), it is conceivable that they might become available again at some point.
Most of the rest of the limited items fall into the category of "extremely time-intensive for staff" because they have one or more aspects that are basically customized work for every one that sells, and that usually isn't practical as a long-term business practice. But the word 'usually' there is important.
