Shape shifting powers

has this been covered yet ?

this is something i have seen in some games and those games have done it well it some aspects and others not so much.

DCUO i played and had some decent forms but not much in variety on the other hand Neverwinter nights had a lot of choices for forms

I personally like the idea of more mythical creatures for a shape shifter instead of the standard forms in other games.
my personal favs dragon's, nine tailed fox,

more standard forms-

bear,gorilla,bull, ect... for Tank
(i'm sure you guys have more or better ideas lol)

DPS forms could be
Fox,wolf,panther,tiger,lion,

for mobility
cheetah for land travel or other fast animals (kinda tired can't think of more lol)

flight-
various species of bird such as eagle, falcon, hawk,
mythical one would be Phoenix, Dragon, pegasis

swim forms,
dolphin,shark,manatee, ect

stealth i'm not terribly sure on this maybe that can be a skill learned or some power

(i may update this more later)

what? no elephant? dinosaur?

what? no elephant? dinosaur?

no whale to drop from the sky?

must all shape-shifts be person sized?

and can the elephant avatar allow a super loud emote fart?

i love the way you think ! LOL

i'm really hoping someone would take at least some of these ideas seriously
i've played around with shape shifters in neverwinter nights, world of warcraft, dc universe online and most of those the forms are mostly average sized animals or a bit bigger given if its a "Dire form"
neverwinter was the only game i have played you could change into mythical creatures including dragons

Why not have alternate

Why not have alternate character looks that you can change into? Create through the char generator different "versions" of your self. Why does have shape changing have to only be animals.
Like having different "costumes" except the form is tied to a power. So you can shape change into a Tank Mode, DPS Mode, Control Mode... etc.

i like the idea of all of

i like the idea of all of this really because shapeshifting in DC was sorely lacking on the forms they had one form or so for each type of job and after awhile you get tired of looking at that form for that specific job so having many options works better.

i'm also big into cartoons like recently i've been watching Young Justice and thats one of the reasons shape shifting has come up in my mind you have two of them beast boy & ms. martian both fairly good with different forms of shape shifting.

i actually think the shape shifting your cloths and appearance would work well for covert missions and stuff instead of plain stealth where you just turn invisible. shape shift into guards, police, security people, citizens ect...

there is so many options for just this idea its almost crazy.

i suppose the mythical animals maybe a bit of a stretch lol
but i also like those ideas.

I personally think shape changing into a house cat of any breed would be a fun idea.
especially a siamese cat i miss my seal point he passed long ago :-/

it could work, IF there is a program that can do the shifting from one form to another on the fly, on automatic. otherwise it will be a nightmare.

Well, a shortcut is to use a Visual FX (small explosion maybe) and just replace the Mesh with the new one. No Morphing needed. Think how they did it for Kheldians in CoH/V.

but the impact of a true morph, would be vastly better. i think morph tech was invented like 20 years ago via a micheal jackson video. surely there are cheaper versions about.

overall i haven't worked out

overall i haven't worked out everything in my view for this whole idea i just remembered playing shape shifters in other games and loving it.

druid from Neverwinter nights being the biggest one had the most choices for forms
druid from World of Warcraft was also cool. cat & bear forms being my most used
DCUO was pretty good but very limited on forms just seemed too basic

my idea was also revolving around the idea of the player picking some forms for each situation
like having a handful of choices for high dps, tank, land, water & flying travel powers
i mean am i the only one that gets bored of looking at the same shape shifting form ?

CoH i enjoyed the many options of customizing and including having different costume slots
