I'd like to know if it would be possible to make a character that does multiple element damage types? Like three or more, with one powerset.
I figure it would be possible visually, via aesthetic decoupling and particle effects with a powerset that functions in a way one would want it to. But from what I've read all the powers would be doing the same damage type, rather than some fire, some ice, electricity, etc.
Though I can imagine a problem might be balancing it.
But I ask for the sake of more magic oriented character concepts, because I often see wizards/mages/sorceresses/etc. have several elements at their disposal. And I wouldn't be surprised if there were mutants/super-heroes with multiple element control.

I would think they you could take a primary set that does "burning" and a secondary that does "slowwing" AND a tertiary that does "endurance draining" and call them fire, and electricity if you wanted to, then apply the appropriate effects and animations.

I want to be able to make a character like Space Ghost who has 3 different beams (heat, force and cold) with the same power but different effects.

That's what I was thinking as well - a combo of primary, secondary and tertiary powers.
Also - the devs have talked about possibly letting players add modifiers to powers what will change the damage type to some degree - so it might be possible to take a ranged set doing physical damage, apply the appropriate animations, and add in these modifiers to give one power some burning damage, some energy damage on another, etc. If these - augments I think they were called? - work the way I think, this could help mages and gadgeteers get the right "flavour" with their powers.
So you'd have a basic "projection attack" with X stats and Y damage type. In the customization screen you could then Change Y but X would be static. And also change the animation to taste. Then you could slot that power for slow or DOT or damage or acc or whatever you would normally. That is a better solution than what popped into my head after reading the first post.
That could really create a FOTM for PVP. Especially if you allow defensive powers to work the same way by providing elemental resistance. Although you could ignore the Y flavor of a power and simply stick with the X stat for PVP. Thus any resistance would work against any assault to the magnitude of X ignoring flavor Y. You could actually be weaker in PVE than PVP in that case.
I guess I solved my own problem.

So it would just be this screen with a whole lot more options
