Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

magic or science as skin options

magic or science as skin options

What if the crafting components in the game were basically left generic on the "behind the curtain" side and then the players could choose, at time of character creation, whether they want their crafting components to have "magic" based names or "science" based names.

So like, the game would track "Generic Very Rare Component ######" but you'd see it as either "Hyperdrive Motivator" or "Dragon's Fang" when you look at it, based on whether you chose "magic" or "science" when you made your toon.

I know that they're not doing "origins" per se, and though this does sound like that, what it would really be is an attempt to customize the crafting to the player's desires. Then all the crafting tables etc would follow suit, as would the names of the Augments and Refinements made.

Otherwise, you end up forcing players who want techy characters to accept magical sounding stuff in some cases and visa versa. On the other hand, maybe forcing people to accept magic and tech for their crafting is better in this setting. I don't know.

Huh, at first I didn't think

Huh, at first I didn't think so but thinking a bit about this it is a fairly hard question.

Making people choose science or magic leaves out those who wants to draw from both.
Making items only be from one may force people into taking from one origin that they don't want to.
A third option would be to make every item have both a science and magical version but right now I feel that is too much work for the potential, most likely very small, benefit.

Can't really say which way is the best one to go right now, but right I'm leaning a little bit towards the second one.

And then there's the

And then there's the complication of regular Science, or Super-science? Or Pulp-science? Or Pseudo-science, where things are indistinguishable from 'magic'? And which of the myriad flavors of 'magic' are we talking about?

To me, this seems like a nice 'detail' to add to the system, but it ultimately just restricts player creativity and/or creates a giant trunkload of extra work for the Devs, to work these details into the system.

Be Well!

It would certainly be easier

It would certainly be easier to just give every crafting component a name and leave it at that, thus forcing some people to accept "magic" and others to accept "science" given the genre game we're in, I guess.

Yes, my guess is that some will be magic, some tech, simply by nature. Think of the temp powers in CoH, you could find your magic fellow wielding a cryo blaster.

There will be some such generalities throughout the game world itself. But my goal (or read hope) is outside of the specific faction-related and story-related temporary powers, any general crafting powers made by players will also leverage our aesthetic decoupling for application.

City of Heroes has going down

City of Heroes has gone down as one of if not the greatest character creator in MMO history. From reading your (developer) responses and publicized direction for where CoT character creator is going, it looks like you are going to make it even more amazing and take that top spot for yourselves. Ganbatte! I eagerly anticipate spending hours in it and will continue to root for you.

I like to take your ideas and supersize them. This isn't criticism, it is flattery. I come with nothing but good will and a spirit of team-building. If you take what I write any other way, that is probably just because I wasn't very clear.

Also while you may not want

Also while you may not want your Tech character to have to use magic items to craft gear, or vice versa, how would you explain finding that Dragon Fang or a basket of Toads Eyes on the Robotic Minions of Bleep Bloop and not a bucket of rivets?

This also creates some

This also creates some complication in general chat as a person might be looking for a bucket of rivets but any magical characters would only see frog warts in their inventory. You'd end up having to create a whole sub language to make people understood that person A is looking for tier 1 crafting component 6. Interesting Idea but the execution is going to cause problems.
