Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

Helpers & Henchmen

Recently I had occasion to recall the RPG Ars Magica and the idea of playing secondary characters. These are characters that would be played if the main character is indisposed for some reason or if the task simply was not suited to the main character. The way I envision that this might work in CoT is that each character has the opportunity to obtain one or more contacts. The player would play these contacts as they engage in their own tasks for specific rewards.

Why have some contact go through this rather than the hero? First of all, I'd love to see the devs used these as an opportunity to flex their ability to create non-combat missions. Past that, these "missions" might be something this person just happened across (e.g. Jimmy Olsen discovers he's made some interesting photos, or a police officer comes across something they can't explain well enough to follow up through official channels) or any of a thousand other situations a superhero isn't likely to encounter. Or due to the simple fact that not even superheroes can be everywhere.

Rewards are always tricky. My best idea is to provide a clue (Jimmy's photo or the cop's "thingie") to a particular kind of mission. This would essentially make this idea a variation on doing radio/newspaper missions to obtain safeguard/mayhem missions. Ideally these would be larger and more spectacular than whatever may pass for normal safeguard/mayhem missions (always assuming that such will exist).

Such a system could have plenty of other little features. For example, each contact could have their own bio page (and perhaps even family tree). If/when the secret identity stuff is implemented a contact could be associated with that identity rather than with the superhero.

I like this.

I like this.

It could bring in TSW - type puzzle, exploration, agility, etc. missions and non-combat abilities, and, most importantly, it would give people who like to do these kinds of missions for the fun of it a chance to do them, while allowing those who don't enjoy them the ability to skip them.

I have great respect for TSW and the lore, atmosphere and innovative mission types that they achieved. If the combat, travel, and most especially costumes weren't so... meh... I'd be playing it right now.

I think this mission type would allow CoT to achieve some of what TSW did on all of those fronts without limiting general game-play or needing a plot device to temporarily de-power or alter your character's power for the mission.

FIGHT EVIL! (or go cause trouble so the Heroes have something to do.)

Using secondary characters like this is very similar to Neverwinters 'Sword Coast Adventures'. That is a sort of minigame where you can send your henchmen on quests to gather rewards. Instead of actually controlling them you play a dice game for combat/challenges. I personally love this type of concept as it is browser based so can be done on phones/tablets outside the game.

I've used that quite a bit myself. you can send your companions on dungeon runs by themselves; it's really quite a bit of fun, since it's a dice game but there's a surprising amount of strategy to it. It's also a great way to keep people involved in the game when they can't access the actual game, which is huge for keeping people invested.

An infinite number of tries doesn't mean that any one of those tries will succeed. I could flip an infinite number of pennies an infinite number of times and, barring genuine randomness, they will never come up "Waffles".

Making it a kind of mini-game

Making it a kind of mini-game that can also be played on tablets or in browsers may be the best approach. Especially if the resultant reward/mission can only be obtained and run once a day, for example, it would give people the opportunity to have them ready to go by the time they log in.
